Mapping the Behaviour Economy of Cloud Computing across Business, Education, and Personal sectors from 2009 to 2019. Innovation Object: Data as Material.

Research Cloud Computing Data as Material 2009–2019 Behaviour Economy

This research project maps the evolving behaviour economy created by cloud computing over a decade — tracing how cloud technologies changed the ways individuals, institutions, and businesses create, store, share, and act on data.

The central proposition is that Data as Material — treating data not as an abstract resource but as a designable, shapeable material with texture, behaviour, and agency — is the defining innovation object of the cloud era.

The project spans three sectors: Business (enterprise cloud adoption, SaaS proliferation), Education (LMS platforms, remote learning), and Personal (social media, streaming, personal data ecosystems), tracking behavioural shifts across each from 2009 to 2019.
